PRESIDENT’S CORNER
On August 17, 2008 the Association kicked off the end of summer picnic. I would like to thank everyone that attended and all the volunteers that made the picnic a great success. Susan Melton and Laura Herde, our chair and co-chair of the picnic deserve great kudos for the efforts. On behalf of all of El Dorado, thank you. Maria Johnson, Barbara DeWitt and the butterfly garden volunteers officially opened the children’s butterfly garden. All your efforts added something very special to the whole event.
I know those of you that attended the picnic noticed the changes occurring in our park. The new picnic benches and trash containers are all made out of recycled water and soda bottles. They will never rot and should serve the neighborhood for many years to come. The sand surfaces of the playgrounds and volleyball court have all been replenished. The swing sets have been sanded and painted as well.
The board wants to thank all of you that received letters for roof cleaning and/or maintenance items that have already addressed those issues. Your efforts have contributed a great deal toward keeping El Dorado the special place that it is.
The notice of assessment was mailed to all residents this month and checks are already coming in. The board thanks all of you. A separate bank account has been established specifically for the assessment funds. This will make it much easier to audit all improvement invoices with this targeted funding. We continue to receive bids and I will keep you updated as we progress.
As always, if anyone has any questions please feel free to call me at 954-321-8879.
Barry Murray
MORE PICNIC APPRECIAITION
There are quite a few people, without which, the picnic would not have been possible. Susan Melton, Laura Herde, Jennifer Chakwin and Gail Truss, the volunteer committee, thank you for all that you did; everything from set-up, organization and phone calls, to ticket sales, handling the raffle and break down. Barry Murray who created the great banner for our Butterfly Garden, we thank you. Mark Woodham and family, who handled the task of constructing our trash bins and benches, we thank you. Thanks to Maria Johnston who organized the butterfly release. Most of all, to the numerous residents that attended and helped out, we thank you for all that you did. We hope that you will all join us again next year!
Special thanks go out to the following for their donations of these prizes into our Door and Chinese Raffles:
Barry Murray- One year of lawn pest control service from Truly Nolan

KEEPING YOU INFORMED
In an attempt to alleviate some growing areas of concern, the Board of Directors would like to address a few issues that have been brought to their attention.
We have received complaints of children driving through the neighborhood streets and over lawns on golf carts, performing dangerous and unruly antics. Besides damaging people’s property they are putting themselves in harm’s way. The safety of our children and the maintenance of our properties are of the utmost importance. That being said, the board feels the need to reiterate a few points.
We researched the laws regarding golf carts in the city of Plantation. We would like to remind all residents that it is illegal to drive golf carts on public streets in the city of Plantation, unless they are being used for security purposes. By enforcing this within El Dorado we are trying to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to resident’s property.
Another matter that has been brought to our attention is lawn maintenance companies beginning their work during early hours in the morning. Below you will find a section from the City Ordinance regarding this matter. Please remind your lawn maintenance company of this issue, as a courtesy to your neighbors.
Chapter 16: NOISE Section 16-2 Item (6) states that:
(6)Lawn- maintenance devices. It shall be unlawful to operate lawn mowers, edger, trimmers, and power-driven hedge shears in the city between the hours of 9:00 pm and 8:00 am.
We thank you for your cooperation in these matters. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the office and we will be happy to discuss them with you.
